Brightside Physio working towards B-Corp certification

Published: 5th July, 2023

At Brightside we embrace the relationship between conscious sustainability practices and connecting people with themselves, their community and environment for their healthy longevity.

We’re working on The B-corp Business Impact Assesment so that Brightside evolves via business practices that empower people to flourish and help to create a sustainable planet for our future.

This involves seeking ways to improve our sustainability practices, conserve resources, and lower our carbon footprint. This includes sourcing efficient building and renovation materials for our new premises as well as commitments to renewable energy, water conservation.

The BIGGEST and BEST IMPACT we can make as a healthcare business however, is being good at our job. The better I am at rehabilitating someone from physical injury or dysfunction and impart relevant, evidence informed, healthy lifestyle education, the less likely they are to attend a primary care institution (hospital) in the future, using less resources and creating less emissions.

By better understanding of how our environment and the climate crisis affects everyones health, we can start to approach our own health and how we interact with our local environments and communities.

By measuring our impact on people and planet via the B-Corp certification process and newly updated Health Care Professions Council standards, we aim for the highest standards of social, environmental and healthcare performance, transparency and accountability.

B-Corp Declaration of Interdependence

B-Corp envision a global economy that uses business as a force for good. This economy is comprised of a new type of corporation - the B Corporation - which is purpose-driven and creates benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders. As B Corporations and leaders of this emerging economy, we believe:

  • That we must be the change we seek in the world.
  • That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place matter.
  • That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.
  • To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.
